Everyone deserves to feel comfortable and safe in their own home. But there is a severe undersupply of appropriate housing for older people with care needs in the UK.
The government’s Supported Housing Review 2023 revealed an undersupply of between 88,600 and 297,000 units of supported housing for older people, projected to grow to between 261,700 and 540,700 units by 2040.
We are working to address this shortage with affordable extra care housing that helps older people to feel safer, less stressed and more relaxed in homes designed to meet their needs.
Many residents at our schemes in Leeds and Telford have reported improvements to their health since moving into their new homes. As well as on-site care and support, our developments include smart home and assistive technology, enabling residents to retain their independence while still getting the help they need.
Our latest video shares the firsthand experience of one of our residents, Barrie Higgins, and insights from our CEO, Findlay MacAlpine, on how our homes are helping to improve the health and wellbeing of older people.
